JICC Board


The Jerusalem Inter-Cultural Center's board is responsible of setting the center's direction and promoting its targets. The board includes members from the Business, government and NGO sectors, as well as representatives of the varied identities in the city.
Avner Haramati - Chairman

A Social entrepreneur and an organizational psychologist. As an organizational psychologist has been working since 1980 in promoting processes of change in organizations; business, government and NGO sectors. Has an MA in clinical and social psychology and a BA in economics from the Hebrew University in Jerusalem. Co-founder of `Oganim` (anchors) – an enterprise that promotes organizational effectiveness through promoting profit, spirit and wellness. Specializes in working with large groups to promote life giving and short term systemic changes in organizations and communities. Uses OST (open space technology) AI (appreciative Inquiry), Future Search, conflict resolution and coaching as tools for bringing people and organizations to their full human and business potential, and bringing all the dimensions of the system to a fruitful dialogue and action. As a social entrepreneur, one of the founders and former chairman of `Besod-Siach` (The Enigma of Dialogue), an NGO that promotes dialogue between groups in conflicts within the Israeli society. Focus today on numerous projects together with Israeli, Palestinian and International partners in order to promote Jerusalem as an open, shared, equal and prosperous city.
Fuad Abu-Hamed

Owns two medical centers in Tzor-Baher and in Beit-Tzfafa. Founder and member of the executive board of the Social-Cultural Forum in the Tzor-Baher neighborhood. Resident of the Tzor-Baher neighborhood in south Jerusalem, married and father of three. Social and civil rights activist.
Ora Ahimeir

Director of the Jerusalem Institute of Israel Studies. Edited books and publications regarding Jerusalem, Women's status in Israel and the Hebrew culture in Israel, among them "1900-2000 One Hundred Years of Culture' (With Haim Be'er), by Am Oved and Yediot Achronot, 2000, and "Jerusalem a City and its Future" (with Marshall Berger), by Syracuse University Press, 2002.
Father Pierbattista Pizzaballa

By decree of the Holy See (15.05.2004) Father Pierbattista Pizzaballa, has been nominated as the new Custos of the Holy Land. He was born in 1965, at Cologno al Serio (Italy). He is a Frair of the Franciscan Order since 1984, was ordained priest in 1990, obtained his BA degree in Theology in 1990 and his MA (Licentiate) in Biblical specialization in 1993. He was preparing his doctorate at the Studium Biblicun Francescanum with a research on "The Alliance in the land of Moab a histric-literry analysis of Dt. 29-30", when he was asked to lead the Custody of the Holy Land.
Shai Ben-Yossef

Community advisor to local authorities, kibbutzim, third sector organizations, government ministries et cetera. As part of his function Shai helps people to organize and develop relationships and shared value systems, in order to promote initiatives and activities that can achieve their joint goals, through diverse methods of operation. Management member of the Israeli Association of the Jewish Federation of San-Fransico. Former director of the Community Development Division, at the Community Center Company, 1999-2004. Former chairman of "Besod Si'ach", which promotes dialogue amongst conflict groups in the Israeli society. PhD student in Sociology, Bar-Ilan University.
Aharon Ben-Nun

Director of the Municipality of Jerusalem's Public Building Department and one the Jerusalem Inter-Cultural Center's founders. BA in Education and Geography. Aharon is married and father of three.
Dudi Zilbersheleg

Chairman and founder of the "Meir-Panim - Koah Latet" organization - a network of soup kitchens and second-hand home equipment storages for the needy across the country. Publisher of the orthodox newspaper "Ba'Kehila". Owns the "Ksharim" strategic planning and consulting office, which specializes in consulting public and economic companies. Member of a large number of public organizations, including the board of "Yad Va'Shem", the board of "Be'Atzmi" center for private initiative, the City Managers Forum (Jerusalem) etc.
Atty. ِِElias Huri

Hanna Levite

An Education Advisor to the Foreign ministry and different projects. Executive board member of the Branco Weiss Institute and the School Next to the Hebrew University ('Alyada'), which she was principal of until August 2003. Chana has been working for over 40 years in Education, in different frameworks, as an counselor, teacher and principal.
Dr. Mitkal Hassan Ahmad Natour

Lawyer specializing in Islamic Law in the region since 1981. Mithkal has directed the Education department in Jerusalem for 19 years, worked as a teacher, principal and as lecturer in conferences in various places. Has M.A in Arabic language, literature and education from the Hebrew University, and a PHD in Islamic family affairs pleading from the USA.
Hisham Najjar

One of the founders of the Jerusalem Inter-Cultural Center, an electrician by trade. Former chairman of the Silwan Islamic Center and director of the 'Rifadi' Institute in East Jerusalem.
Rabbi David Rosen

Former Chief Rabbi of Ireland, is the Director of the Department for Interreligious Affairs and Director of the Heilbrunn Institute for International Interreligious Understanding of the American Jewish Committee. He is President of the International Committee for Interreligious Consultations (IJCIC); serves on the Chief Rabbinate of Israel's delegation for dialogue with the Vatican ;is President of the World Conference on Religion and Peace; Honorary President of the International Council of Christians and Jews; and a founder and Vice-Chairman of the Interreligious Coordinating Council in Israel. In November 2005, Rabbi Rosen was named a papal Knight Commander of the order of St Gregory the Great.
Sharon Rosen

Senior Advisor in the Middle East office of Search for Common Ground, an international conflict resolution and transformation organization, and is the Jerusalem editor of The Common Ground News Service. She is a facilitator in a variety of communication, diversity and mediation skills. Sharon holds undergraduate and masters degrees from Hebrew University, Jerusalem and is a doctoral student in the Department of Peace and Reconciliation studies of Coventry University, England . She is the proud mother of three daughters and the very proud grandmother of two granddaughters.
Nadim Shiban

Director of the project department in the Jerusalem Foundation since 2002. In the past, Mr. Shiban directed various projects in the Jerusalem Municipality welfare department, Rehabilitation Division, Division of Social Services Planning and Development, Welfare Services for East Jerusalem, East Jerusalem Division and Division of Services for the Elderly. Nadim is co-founder and an active member of Ossim Shalom ‘social workers for peace and welfare’.
Shimku El-Ami

Mr. El-Ami received his Master's degree in Organizational Social Psychology from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and his Bachelor's degree in Sociology and finished at the top of his class. Shimku was an Organizational consultant for an army brigade in IDF, an instructor for an organizational behavior course in the Open University and an instructor for Sociology and Social Psychology in advanced study institutes. He also was a coordinator of a special care unit for children with mental disorder in the B'nai Brith institute. Shimku served as the Unit Manager of the Center for Lay Leadership in the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee's (JDC) office in Jerusalem. In that role he was responsible for development of training programs and organizational consultation for Israeli's lay leaders, boards members and voluntary organizations. In the last years Shimku is a private Organizational Consultant & Group Facilitator. Shimku is a reserved I.D.F Major (served as a commander of Armor Company); he is married with 2 children and is living in Modiin.
Zvika Timberg

Representative of the Joint - Russian Divison - in the CIS. In the past: Community Center director, director of the Jerusalem Community Center Association, director of the Israel Movement for progressive Judaism, Director of MATAN-Arts and Culture Projects for Youth.
